The
BRASSETT FamilyNewsletter
Welcome to No 12 Newsletter
Well its has been some time since I sat here putting together a newsletter I had to go back over the past one's to see what I was doing.
With the football season over in England I have some time free from washing football kit and arranging games, before the World Cup starts next week
Things have been very busy getting bits ready for the web-site update and also adding to the family tree spreadsheet that I am compiling.
The Newsletter email list is getting bigger, with more Family in the USA and CANADA also added to the list this time around.
Congratulations to Monica Coyne and Nicholas Varty who married in April, and Birthday wishes to Catharine Baker, Kerry Osborn, Sue Higginson, Paul Ellen who all have birthdays coming up.

An American Tree
Over the past couple of weeks, I have been put in contact with John R. (Bob) Walker husband of Carolyn Brassett (now deceased) and brother-in-law to Dr. Lynnwood J. Brassett. in the USA.
This connection was made via Laurie Brassett in Yorkshire who has been searching for Brassett Family members and made contact with Bob.
Having spoken to Laurie I have helped him out with his connection and I am sending him some information, he is connected through Strand 2 (see below) with Sylvia, Angela, Jamie etc.
The information from Bob has closed up a big gap that I had with regards to the USA Brassett Family, I had a large list of Birth, Death and Marriage records all coming from the USA they are now all part of Strand 6 (see below) that brings the USA family into the fold.
Thanks to Laurie and Bob for there help.
Laurie Brassett, born in Stepney, East London 12th. Jan.1933.
Laurie has sent me a profile of his life for the web-site, it covers all his life a made interesting reading it is going on the web-site in the future. if I don't get things up and running soon I will add it to the next newsletter.
News from across the Pond
Thanks to Helen in Bermuda for sending me the photos of the Wedding, Monica Coyne married to Nicholas Varty on April 20, 2002 in Ottawa, Canada. Monica is the youngest daughter of John Coyne and Maureen (Brasset) Coyne.
F a m i l y T r e e
From the amount of information I have received over the past few months it has been easier to keep track of everyone by putting things into groups, I decided to make these Strands, the number does not have any meaning its just how they worked out.
Strand 1
This goes back to John and Hannah Brassett married 1698 in Preston Bissett, Buckinghamshire, England.
Strand 2
This goes back through James Thomas Hinds Brassett 1783 in Aldgate, East London, England.
Strand 3
This goes back to Thomas Brassett and Lucy Raynor married 1780 in Essex, England. This strand goes through a number of name changes as well, mainly Brassett but also Brassitt, Brasted.
Strand 4
This is the Canada connection the name is spelt Brasset but pronounced Brass say, they appear to go back to France
Strand 5
This a small strand with Judy Carr and her father-in-law Leroy Brassett born in Laredo, Texas on September 4, 1921 at present I cannot find a connection.
Strand 6
This is the USA Connection, that also goes back to Pierre (Pedro) Brasset who died in 1794 who was a Frenchman. This could connect with Strand 4 at some point and as it is based throughout the USA it could be the connection to Strand 5 we are looking for.
At present I have over 900 names on the spreadsheet , these go from the 1600's to the present day.
So far I have been unable to find a link but this may be due to the fact that the starting point in each strand in not the same time period. when this comes more into line I think a connection will appear.
W e b - S i t e
This web-site is coming along I am putting things together but its taking time I know I have said this before but I should have something more on the site very soon.
We have had over 600 visitors to the site and the number is going up day by day as more connection around the world are made.
We now get to the I NEED bit
I need a small profile from you to put onto the site, about 50 words like a CV introduction, the more I can get the better. I am also looking for photos, if you have old family photos and can send them over the net to me or even copies through the post it will add to the whole look of the site and work well with the spreadsheet and profiles.
World Cup Competition
I have received a number of entries for the competition and there is still time for more of you to enter the entries so far are as follows
Robert Brassett, Grant Osborn, Trevor Brassett, Ian Brassett, Dr Jamie Brassett, Brass, Ellen Family, James Higginson, Bubbles.
All I need is three Countries and I will do the rest, no prize for the winner just the FAME
